Shakespeare’s Flowers is a large book. It’s a somewhat heavy, hard-bound book with pages – quite a tome! And so it should be, if you think about it. You’ve got two rather complex subjects right there in the title: Shakespeare and stumpwork! It is a beautiful book, as far as the projects go and the visual layouts. At the heart of the book are "portraits" of the over flowers, fruits, grains, grasses, trees, herbs, seeds and vegetables that Shakespeare mentions in his plays and poems. Botanical Shakespeare features a gorgeous color illustration of each, giving a "face" to the name, alongside the specific text in which it appears and the character(s.

love shakespeare books reply | flag * message by Adam (last edited AM) (new) AM. Titus Andronicus is an underrated gem. If you have to do a report on a work of Shakespeare, I would highly advise that one. It deserves a much higher spot, and probably wasn't well received because of some of the vile content.

Open Library is an initiative of the Internet Archive, a (c)(3) non-profit, building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital projects include the Wayback Machine, and Shakespeare’s Flowers is a book new to me, even though it came out years ago, when Shakespeare himself was still a big name, taught in schools, and so on.

But people still love their flowers, and I think there will always be a market for this book by Jessica Kerr, illustrated by eminent flower illustrator Anne Ophelia Dowden and first Reviews: Shakespeare's Chaucer: A Study in Literary Origins.
